Mary Guinan is August’s Innovator of the Month and we couldn’t be more happy this she is leading the honor at our new studio. Leading by example is one of the distinguishing qualities that makes Mary stand out as a client. She attacks each workout with strong determination and a tireless can-do attitude.
Mary, and her husband John, came to Innovative 1 year ago after one of their friends persuaded them to run a Spartan Race. That was was the start to a continuous transformation in Mary’s health, weight, confidence, and strength, just to name a few things in the short 1 year time frame. Mary and John train with Innovative trainer and Spartan Elite Racer - Robin Fontaine and their workouts focus on skills and techniques to complete obstacle course races. Robin is exceedingly proud of Mary and has watched her successfully complete some of the hardest obstacles on the course including the spear throw, monkey bars, rope climb, and multi-rig. On the course and off the course you can always see Mary leading the way. She jumps over the wall at the starting line with no hesitation, she passes much younger men at the daunting bucket carry, and is even a faster runner than her husband now!
Her passion for obstacle course racing has taken on a healthy desire to better herself and improve each and every day. Instead of shying away from a challenge or a difficult task Mary develops ways to improve, practice, and apply the skills, techniques, and knowledge she needs. For instance, Mary has gotten her own climbing rope, built her own spear throw, installed a pull up bar, and obtained grip training accessories. Even on vacation Mary always looks for ways to incorporate some training in to her time away. Sometimes its a 5 hr hike or on a recent trip to the beach she challenged her friends to jump in the freezing cold ocean and then run up a steep flight of stairs. Its hard to deny Mary is passionate and devoted to her health. As a result of all her hard work she has gained significant strength and built some dynamite muscles.
In addition to the personal training, Mary decided to incorporate nutritional coaching with Innovative coach Will Mackie in to her program. With some adjustments and a sharp focus on her diet Mary was able to achieve a 20lb weight loss, some serious body fat and her energy level is through the roof! Her significant success is not only noticed by her but by her co-workers and others around her.
Mary will receive a Free Personal Training Session and 1 Month Group Fitness Membership for her efforts!
